Ford EVOS Concept

Dating back to the 1960s, Ford has always produced the Mustang as their high performance muscle car. In its first decade, the Mustang ruled its clique in just about every way. In ’05, that similar retro look from the 60s came back and has been a huge success ever since. Ford offers several different versions–a 3.7-liter V6 (standard), a large 5.0-liter V8, and a higher-output version 5.0 in the Boss 302. This year, the Mustang began offering a supercharged GT500 model posting over 650 horsepower with a top speed of 200 mph. But after almost a decade of the old-school look, Ford is deciding to change it completely.

The image above shows a recent Ford concept called the EVOS. This is not our future Mustang, but here at UPC we think it will look quite similar. Although the concept looks entirely different, Car and Driver states that the size will not change dramatically, however, its platform will be all-new. Another big change for the new ‘Stang will be its engine options. Ford will install a 4-cylinder turbo model to the lineup likely to produce around 250 horsepower as it does in the Focus ST and others–V8 models will of course be available. Expect to see the new Mustang start production sometime in 2014 as a ’15 model.
