Daft Punk Get Lucky

As of today, the lead single from Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories is officially available for download via iTunes. The track “Get Lucky” was previewed on SNL and features both Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers.

Upon viewing both episodes of The Collaborators Series with Mr. Williams and Mr. Rodgers on the Random Access Memories website, we are allowed into the creative process that brought these wonderful performers together.

Nile Rodgers has always been at the forefront to the evolution of music. As a part of Chic along with Bernard Edwards, Nile co-produced tracks that elevated the popularity of disco to whole new levels in the late 1970s. Since then, he has helped write and produce tracks for Diana Ross, The Sugarhill Gang, David Bowie, Madonna, Duran Duran, Eric Clapton, and many more.  Therefore, it was almost inevitable for him to collaborate with the Robots on their new project. He first met the duo at a Daft Punk listening party in New York some years ago. After failed attempts to hook up in Paris, the three finally reconnected when Daft Punk was recording in New York and asked Nile to come down to the studio. From there, the beautiful relationship of these musical masters had begun to unfold.

Pharrell had meet Daft Punk at a Madonna party and had extended his hand to the Robots. After meeting them in their studio in Paris, Pharrell was asked to plays some of his tracks for the French duo. Pharrell goes onto explain how he was in a “Nile Rodgers Place” in his life. To the amazement of Daft Punk, they presented Pharrell with the track they wished for him to write and strangely enough, the featured guitar riff is none other than Nile Rodgers. The roots to the first lead single off Daft Punk’s new album Random Access Memories were born. Please let us know your thoughts on the single and any other comments dealing with the anticipation of this highly acclaimed album.
