As I’ve said before, when former head of Chicago’s Alex Fruchter decided to leave the site in order to focus on his independent label Closed Sessions, I was skeptical. As time has gone by, however, those doubts have become completely extinguished. Fruchter masterfully crafts the best of collaborations both in Chicago and the greater hip-hop world, and Alex Wiley‘s newest tape is no exception.

Wiley, who has steadily been proving himself on Chicago’s scene, has shown that he can rap unlike anyone we’ve previously heard before, and just based off of Club Wiley‘s singles, he is perhaps the most versatile rapper in Chicago right now (along with Vic Mensa). From the fast-paced “Jerseys & Loafers” to the gritty “Creepin,” Wiley excels on his freshman tape. Download the project below and let us know what you think.
