I had the privilege of getting a press pass for this weekend’s Lollapalooza Music Festival in Chicago, which actually had some really good hip-hop acts. On the top of my list, however, was Chance The Rapper, who I saw Friday night. His stage was way too small, some dude passed out on me, and it was packed to the max, but I couldn’t have asked for anything more. For those of you who read UPC regularly, you know that we’re huge supporters of Chance and to see him do his thing live was crazy amounts of awesome. Chance brought out Vic Mensa and Twista to perform “Cocoa Butter Kisses” and crowd surfed on a blow-up pool. Those “turn-up” moments coupled with Chance’s odes to Chicago and the violence within the city made for an extremely emotional show which will not be forgotten for a long time.
