Lupe Fiasco really knows how to irk his fans. Growing up, I was easily the largest Lupe fan in my school. I read his Twitter and his blog ferociously. After Lasers, however, I just found it hard to keep up. Lupe is attracted to controversy, even at times when he probably should keep his mouth shut or stay away. He’s had a rough couple of years, highlighted perhaps by him getting kicked off stage during Obama’s inauguration. Last night, however, Lu treated the rap community to something they’d been missing from him for a long time. “Peace of Paper/Cup of Jayzus” is 7 minutes of pure lyrical genius, otherwise known as the Lupe Fiasco that I came to love. Does this mean Lupe’s back? I’ve felt that feeling too many times to make such a declaration, but maybe you’ll feel comfortable doing that. Either way, stream the new joint below.
