Today’s the day. Football fans have been waiting all season to see who will make it to the big stage. Super Bowl XLVIII will undoubtedly be a great match up, with the Seattle Seahawks taking on the Denver Broncos. We decided to get a few predictions from some members of the UPC team and see who they got taking home the trophy. See who picked who below, and then leave a comment and let us know who you got!

After winning their respective divisions with records of 13-3, the Seahawks and Broncos will square off in what should be one of the more memorable Super Bowls in recent history. Denver boasts one of the most potent passing games in the L, led by MVP and future first ballot Hall of Famer Peyton Manning. The Broncos aren’t too shabby on the other side of the ball, either; despite losing many of their best defensive starters to injury throughout the season, Denver’s D is playing exceptionally well and is probably the most underrated unit in the game.

IMHO, though, the most important factor come Sunday will be the weather. MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, is a whole different ballgame than the Miami, Floridas and the Glendale, Arizonas in which Super Bowls are normally played. It’s going to be cold. Not Champaign cold, but still. There’s a chance of snow for tomorrow evening, and I think Seattle’s ground-and-pound game will hold up better under the conditions. Plus, with all due respect to Denver, I just like this Seahawks team a whole heap of a lot. Marshawn Lynch has quickly become my favorite player in this year’s playoffs, and who can’t love Richard Sherman? ‘Hawks win 28-24. LOB!

Another Super Bowl without the Bears means another Super Bowl I don’t care about. But this year, I’m actually intrigued on how this game will end up. We got the best offense going against the best defense in the league. This will be a close one but something tells me that BEAST MODE is going to be in full effect. I know Peyton will make it close and interesting, but I have the Seahawks sneaking out a 27-24 win.

Most will pick the Broncos to win the Super Bowl – Peyton Manning’s high-power offense makes them a hot pick for this year’s Super Bowl. However, growing up a Chicago Bears fan and believing the cliche that defense wins championship, I do think the Seahawks and their top-rated pass defense will manage to prevent Manning from scoring more than thirty points. Also, with the weather not being ideal, Russell Wilson’s ability to both throw and run and Marshawn Lynch’s grinding run-game gives the Seahawk’s offense more ways to keep the Broncos defense guessing without relying on big-play passes. When the game clock reaches the zero marker, the Seahawks will be Super Bowl champs.

Due to my dad being from Colorado, I’ve been a massive Broncos fan for my entire life. Through the terrible years and the slightly average years, the past 15 have been tough to watch. This season has been a dream come true for me, and even though I’ll be watching the game from London, I’m going to have to pick my broncos to win this one. I mean I’m sure Seattle has a good defense and all – but I’m not so sure it can stop Peyton and Demaryius. P.S. Demaryius Thomas > Richard Sherman. Yeah I said it.
