EtownJordan reqHip-hop head Jordan P. is the newest addition to the UPC team, and as a result, it’s only right that we bring you his campus essentials. One slight difference this time around: Jordan goes to school at a different campus.

Jordan is a junior at Northwestern University majoring in computer engineering. He hails from Flossmoor, IL, a suburb about an hour south of Chicago, and he’s a self-confessed Kanye West fanatic. Some of his personal interests/passions include technology, music, design, style and sports. Jordan’s a beast on the sticks — FIFA, NHL and Assassin’s Creed are his go-to games. He’s recently picked up music production as a hobby and is constantly working to improve his craft.

Now that you’re a bit more familiar with Jordan, take a look at which requisites he keeps on deck in Evanston.

HP Pavilion Laptop: “As a computer engineer at Northwestern University, most of my life is right here in this laptop, along with some of my other devices. While I am a big Apple fan, I have always stuck to HP computers mostly due to the comfort I have using them. I use many different CAD softwares and run programs in a variety of computer languages, and haven’t had problems with how smoothly it handles my day-to-day use in the classroom. When it comes to my free time, I use this laptop to both listen to and produce music, recently acquiring Ableton along with some recording equipment. It works as a great as a “home studio” — shout out to Chance, ha! And, as always, shout out to UPC with the sticker. Gotta stay repping.”

Adidas x The Neighborhood Moccasin Shoes: “Good style starts from the ground up. These Adidas collaborations are a recent purchase of mine, and I’m already in love. A large part of confidence to me comes from style and how you look, and I always try to look my best to reflect the attitude I want to portray. I love when designers come together to collaborate and create a unique look, and these shoes stuck out to me when I first saw them. I love getting new shoes and these were a must have for my wardrobe.”

A.P.C. x Kanye Putty Khaki Jeans: “When it comes to clothing, music, or anything design-related, I may possibly be Kanye’s biggest fan. The A.P.C. minimalist approach to clothing, combined with Ye’s own style and expertise, make this collection one of the hottest on the internet. I was lucky enough to catch it on sale, and had to pounce. It’s important for me to look fresh and why not rep a personal idol of mine?”

Evans Scholar Active certificate: “I wouldn’t be here at Northwestern without the greatest scholarship on the planet, which is the Evans Scholarship. As a kid, I started caddying the summer after seventh grade. It was a job that paid far beyond any dollar amount; it provided me life lessons, skills and a scholarship that has blessed me with so much. This certificate serves as a reminder of the experiences I went through as a freshmen getting acquainted to the house, and of the hard work that it takes to carry on a program as great as this.”

Chicago Blackhawks Snapback: “When I entered college, I started wearing snapbacks a lot more than usual. This one is special to me because I got it the year the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup. I am a huge Blackhawks fan, and I wore the hat every game of the playoffs. The hat carries lots of memories.”

Steve Jobs Biography: “Books have always been a big part of my life, although I don’t read them as often as I would like to anymore. Currently, I am reading the biography of possibly my biggest personal idol, Steve Jobs. As a computer engineer, it makes sense that I would revere such a talent in the field. However, I admire Jobs for much more. I admire the vision that he had, and his creative way of making technology something much more appealing — much more usable on the human level. I admire that he stuck to his morals in the face of adversity and I aspire to lead a technology business similar to him some day.”

Alesis VI25 Midi Keyboard: “Music has been a large part of my life since I was a kid. I started playing violin as a child but quickly switched up to the piano. I’ve always loved making melodies on the piano, but strayed away from the instrument for a while between high school and college. The rise of producers in the rap industry was actually something that sparked my own interest in producing, and so I saved up to buy a midi keyboard along with some software and other recording equipment. I love this keyboard, and it’s something that I do in my free time throughout the week. It’s a great way to get out some creative expression, and also something I want to take seriously once I develop my skills to a higher level.”

Sennheiser HD 360 Pro Studio Headphones: “As you may know by now, I love music. While I’m a big fan of the Beats by Dre aesthetic, the Sennheiser’s give me a better sound quality for producing purposes. They are also a great fit and comfortable for long periods of listening. They are collapsable and come with a case to stash them in, so they’re great on-the-go — which is crucial around campus.

Play Cloths Motocross T-Shirt: “The T-shirt is hands down my favorite article of clothing. This one happens to be my current favorite and I love rocking it around campus. Pusha T is one of my favorite G.O.O.D. Music artists and it feels good to rep his product. The motocross inspiration makes it unique to me, and even though it can get cold up here in E-town, this shirt works well with layers and the bright colors pop enough to make it stand out.”
