The annual event where Champaign-Urbana’s music scene seems to shine the brightest has to be Pygmalion Music Festival. Every year, it features some of the best indie/alternative acts in the entire world. This year, of course is no exception. Yesterday, it was announced that English shoegaze throwback Ride would be playing the festival, and today, another wave of artists came flooding in, including Purity Ring, Tune-Yards, Klevah, T.R.U.T.H. and Grandkids. The festival will also now have a “Tech” aspect, as well, which will feature talks from the likes of Will Leitch (Deadspin) and Jessica Hopper (Pitchfork).

Sign me up for this one – hip-hop has come to Pygmalion, something that has been relatively rare in the past couple of years. This is just an initial announcement, so I’m sure there will be much more to come, but until then you can view the full lineup and buy your tickets at when they go on sale at 10 AM on Friday. Cheers.
