Milwaukee-born, Chicago-raised artist Sterling LaVelle just dropped his new single, “Cancer.” LaVelle enlists fellow Chicago musician Ayanna Jahnee to provide melodic vocals for the hook. The WIZE-produced song has a jazzy and uplifting vibe, and LaVelle delivers some serious bars. “Cancer” is an ode to LaVelle’s late mother, who lost her battle with cancer a few years back. It’s the first single on LaVelle’s upcoming project, Brainstorms and Blues, expected to drop before the end of the year.

This song can definitely pull at your heart strings a bit, but it’ll make you smile with LaVelle’s clear message of persevering and chasing his dreams. You can check out the song below and follow Sterling LaVelle on Twitter here.
